Feel (working title) is an ongoing mixed media painting project which incorporates aspects of performance art, abstract expressionism, and self-portraiture.

What began with anger and a drop cloth has evolved to include many emotions and many media - rules be damned.

An initial foray into self-re-discovery led me to remember an idea for a project I’ve had since high school - and to finally carry it out. Determined to reconnect to my feminine strength and do some serious self-healing, I brought all my pain, all my body, and a whole lot of paint out into a field near a marsh. From there I discovered an explosion of emotions, an ecstasy rarely allowed in our western culture. Through pieces that are emerging from that experience, I hope to offer myself and others new opportunities to connect with and heal our pasts.

Possibilities for the future of this project include an immersive installation, a replication of the performance piece, and a community-inclusive painting experience. For now, I am slowly adding to each canvas when I need moments of catharsis or when I am curiosity bathing. My hope is to invite viewers in to ask questions, find a little something interesting, wonder what feelings they need to reclaim for themselves.
